Transfer news live: Isak to Liverpool, Arsenal chase Hincapie, Man Utd target Baleba

The Alexander Isak story remains the biggest headline of this transfer window. The Swedish striker is determined to leave Newcastle United and join Liverpool. His frustration only grew after Newcastle’s 3–2 home defeat to the Reds on Monday night. Reports suggest Isak met with senior club officials after the game to push his case.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are attempting to strengthen their forward line, but face setbacks. A bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen was rejected, and interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa has not produced concrete progress. Liverpool, who have already tested Newcastle’s resolve with a £110m bid, are weighing up whether to return with an improved offer.

Arsenal hijack Spurs for Hincapie after Eze deal

Arsenal have been active late in the window, already securing Eberechi Eze in a £67.5m transfer from Crystal Palace. Their next target is Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, with the Ecuadorian having reportedly agreed personal terms.

Tottenham were in the race but Arsenal have moved quicker, planning a loan deal with an obligation to buy. To facilitate the move, the Gunners may allow Jakub Kiwior to join Porto, who are now frontrunners for his signature.

Manchester United revisit Baleba pursuit

Manchester United are again being linked with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba after their 1–1 draw with Fulham exposed midfield frailties. United are also fending off continued Saudi interest in captain Bruno Fernandes, while young talent Kobbie Mainoo could depart if the club receive a suitable offer.

Other names such as Sporting captain Morten Hjulmand and Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller remain on the list, but Baleba is seen as the main option, despite Brighton’s £100m valuation.

Anthony Gordon apologises for red card

Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon publicly apologised to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk after his studs-up challenge resulted in a red card. The dismissal left Newcastle playing with ten men for almost an hour in Monday’s clash. Although Eddie Howe’s side battled back from two goals down, Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha struck in the 110th minute to seal victory.

Manuel Akanji’s Man City future uncertain

Pep Guardiola omitted Manuel Akanji from Manchester City’s squad for their recent loss against Tottenham, fuelling speculation about his future. The Swiss defender has been linked with Galatasaray, Bayer Leverkusen, and Crystal Palace.
