Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has outlined three key demands before he agrees to extend his contract at Old Trafford.
The Dutch manager is expected to stay at the club after speculation about his potential dismissal despite having a year left on his current contract. Ten Hag endured United’s worst ever Premier League finish but achieved success by winning the FA Cup against Manchester City in his second season.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his football operations team decided to retain Ten Hag, halting their search for a replacement. Consequently, the Red Devils are preparing to enter discussions with the 54-year-old manager regarding a new deal.
Ten Hag’s Three Demands
After earning some sympathy and with the club struggling to find a replacement, Thomas Tuchel seemed to rule himself out after meeting with Ratcliffe. This could potentially strengthen Ten Hag’s position. The former Ajax boss may use this to his advantage.
According to The Sun, Ten Hag has three demands, some of which are expected. United’s boss insists Jadon Sancho will not rejoin the first team unless he apologizes. The two fell out early last season, leading to Sancho’s loan move to Borussia Dortmund. Regardless of who is in charge, the club appears intent on selling their £73 million signing.
Additionally, Ten Hag is set to resist the club hierarchy’s attempts to dictate his playing style, with technical director Jason Wilcox possibly playing a significant role in this area.
