Paris Saint-Germain’s coach, Luis Enrique, admitted that the intense home crowd support at Borussia Dortmund was a significant factor in their 1-0 defeat during the Champions League semi-final first leg. Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about PSG’s prospects of advancing to the final. Niclas Fuellkrug netted the game’s sole goal, while both Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi struck the woodwork in a dramatic sequence for PSG. However, the team struggled to capitalize further and secure a goal.
Reflections on a Challenging Champions League Semi-final
“It’s the nature of football. Often it’s splendid, but sometimes it unfolds as it did today. We’d have preferred a different scenario, yet the match was remarkably balanced,” Enrique shared with broadcaster Canal Plus.
“The path to the semi-finals of the Champions League is never easy. The team feels somewhat disheartened. We came close with a shot that struck both posts,” he added.
“The stadium here is undoubtedly exceptional, but I am confident we will show our strength in Paris, where we have everything to gain and nothing to lose.”
