Chelsea Eye Eight New Signings Amid Mudryk’s Potential Four-Year Doping Ban

Mudryk Facing Lengthy Suspension

Mykhailo Mudryk is at risk of receiving a four-year ban after being officially charged by the Football Association for doping rule violations. The Ukraine international has not played since November following a provisional suspension due to the detection of meldonium, a performance-enhancing substance, in his system.

The FA confirmed that Mudryk is charged under Regulations 3 and 4 of their Anti-Doping Regulations. While the case remains under investigation, neither the FA nor Chelsea have offered further comments.

Mudryk Denies Wrongdoing

Mudryk maintains his innocence, stating that he was shocked by the results and has never knowingly taken any banned substances. In a statement on Instagram, he expressed confidence in his eventual return and emphasized his cooperation with investigators.

Chelsea Seeking Winger Reinforcements

With Mudryk unavailable and Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United, Chelsea are pursuing new signings to strengthen their wing options. The club reportedly targets eight players for just two attacking positions.

Their £42m bid for Jamie Gittens was rejected by Borussia Dortmund, who are holding out for around £50m. However, there remains an expectation that Gittens could still move to Chelsea this summer.

Alternative Options in the Market

Chelsea have also identified Lyon’s Malick Fofana as an alternative for the left wing. Head coach Enzo Maresca recently confirmed the club’s need to bolster its wing options, mentioning that only Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, and Tyrique George are available as true wingers.

Additionally, a possible loan-to-buy deal for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has been discussed internally.

Focus on Versatility and Creativity

Maresca is reportedly interested in adding a versatile forward rather than a traditional striker, with Liam Delap already in place to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

The club aims to reduce the creative pressure on Cole Palmer, especially as João Félix and Christopher Nkunku are both expected to leave.
