Kerr’s return

This was Kerr’s first Chelsea start since December 2023 after her ACL recovery. She missed chances early and strayed offside a couple of times but her movement and touch returned as the game wore on. Her second goal was a classic near post header from a Niamh Charles cross.

Standouts

Macario was the most influential attacker with two goals and constant threat, including a free kick that hit the woodwork. Goalkeeper Carina Schluter kept the score down with several saves for St Pölten. A Naomi Girma header was ruled out due to an earlier offside by Kerr.

What it means and what is next

Chelsea look stronger with Kerr and James back involved and are tracking toward the quarter finals. Next up is Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on 20 November at 20:00 GMT. St Pölten travel to Valerenga on 19 November at 20:00 GMT.
