Gunners target one of England’s top young attackers
Arsenal are reportedly nearing an agreement to sign Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga, according to several reports.
The 16 year old is regarded as one of the most promising young attacking players in English football. He made his Premier League debut for Leicester in April 2025 and became the second youngest player in the competition’s history at the time.
Monga has since dropped to third on that list following Max Dowman’s rise, but his progress has continued. He became part of Leicester’s first team during a Championship season that ended with the club suffering a second straight relegation.
Monga can play on both wings
Monga is mainly right footed, but he is comfortable playing on either flank. That flexibility is one of the reasons Arsenal are interested in bringing him to the Emirates.
The north London club are said to view him as a player who could develop into a long term attacking option. His arrival could become more relevant if Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard leave the club during the summer window.
Arsenal have been adding several highly rated young players to their system, and Monga would fit into that wider plan if the transfer is completed.
Leicester set to receive compensation
Monga is expected to sign his first professional contract when he turns 17 next month. Because of that, Leicester would be entitled to compensation if he leaves.
Arsenal will likely try to agree a fee directly with Leicester. If the two clubs cannot settle on a figure, the case may go to a tribunal to decide the compensation package.
If Monga completes the move, he will join a growing list of young talents heading to Arsenal. The Gunners have already agreed a deal for Irish winger Victor Ozhianvuna, who will arrive from Shamrock Rovers when he turns 18.
Ecuadorian brothers Edwin and Holger Quintero are also expected to join Arsenal in August 2027, showing the club’s continued focus on signing players for the future.
