Reports of a £60m clause spark transfer talks around Arsenal interest
Arsenal are reportedly assessing a possible move for Bruno Guimaraes after claims surfaced that the Newcastle midfielder has a release clause set at around £60m.
Media reports suggest that the Gunners are preparing to make initial contact with Newcastle regarding the Brazil international, who has become one of the key figures in Eddie Howe’s squad. At the same time, Guimaraes’ representatives are said to be gauging interest from several clubs, raising speculation that a summer departure could be considered.
The midfielder, who will turn 29 in November, still has two years remaining on his current contract. However, the reported clause has opened the door to potential negotiations if any club decides to activate it.
Newcastle respond firmly while transfer rumours around squad grow
Newcastle have reacted to the speculation by stating that Guimaraes is not available for transfer. The club made their position clear through a brief response to local media, stressing that he is not for sale despite growing external interest.
According to additional reports, there is also an understanding between the player and the club that a move could be considered if Newcastle failed to reach the Champions League. While the club did secure European qualification this season, there are suggestions they may not feature in continental competition in the following campaign.
Arsenal are also said to be tracking other midfield targets, including Morgan Rogers, as they look to strengthen their squad depth for the coming season. Mikel Arteta is believed to see Guimaraes as a player who could add both competition and balance alongside Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi.
Wider transfer pressure builds around Newcastle squad
Newcastle are also facing growing attention on several of their key players. Sandro Tonali is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham and Manchester United, while Anthony Gordon has been linked with a major move to Barcelona in a deal valued at around £70m.
Despite these rumours, the club are under no pressure to sell and are expected to resist offers for their top performers. Guimaraes in particular remains highly valued within the squad and is widely viewed as one of Newcastle’s most important players.
Even with strong financial interest from rival clubs, Newcastle’s stance suggests they intend to keep hold of their core midfield leader heading into the new season.
