Manager keeps faith with settled group
England boss Thomas Tuchel explained that Jude Bellingham Phil Foden and Jack Grealish remain valued despite missing this camp. Bellingham wanted to join up and Tuchel called him a special player yet chose continuity after a statement five to nil win in Serbia. He added that Bellingham is still regaining rhythm at Real Madrid and has not completed a full match since returning from a shoulder issue.
No personal rifts and one squad change
Tuchel stressed there is no personal issue with any of the trio and praised Foden’s impact for Manchester City and Grealish’s upturn at Everton. Bukayo Saka replaces the injured Noni Madueke. Ruben Loftus Cheek and Jarell Quansah stay after late call ups last month.
Focus on Wales and Latvia
England face Wales at Wembley on Thursday then travel to Riga for a World Cup qualifier on fourteen October. A win in Latvia would leave the Three Lions needing a maximum of two points from November games with Serbia and Albania to qualify for next summer in Canada Mexico and the United States. Tuchel said places are never guaranteed but the recent camp delivered top level teamwork and spirit so the staff stuck with the same group.
