Slot ‘happy’ to welcome Salah back to Liverpool

Arne Slot said he will be “happy” to have Mohamed Salah return to Liverpool next week after Egypt’s third-place play-off at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Egyptian forward has been away on international duty and will rejoin the squad following Saturday’s match against Nigeria.

Slot emphasized Salah’s importance, stating that even with “15 attackers” he would still welcome him back. Liverpool face injury issues, making Salah’s return timely. It remains unclear if Salah will reclaim a regular starting spot, but Slot drew a line under last month’s dramatic interview where Salah claimed “someone doesn’t want me in the club” and no longer had a relationship with the manager.

Robertson’s situation and Slot’s praise

Andy Robertson, another player adjusting to reduced starting time, spoke passionately about his future earlier this week. His contract expires in the summer and no decision has been made on an extension.

Slot praised Robertson’s attitude: “The way he speaks is a big compliment.” Both Salah and Robertson have handled diminished roles professionally and will be remembered in Liverpool history for their contributions.

Slot confirmed no new injuries beyond long-term absentees Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni. The team remains unbeaten in six games without Salah and faces Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.
