Man City 3-1 Bournemouth – The Fans’ Verdict

Man City Fans

Gene: A much better performance against a stronger side with crisp, smart passing and sharper attacking play. Rayan Cherki is growing in confidence and showing real creativity, while Matheus Nunes has improved significantly as a right-back. They need to keep building on the teamwork and will gel further as the competition intensifies.

Anton: City will beat any team that comes to play rather than parking the bus. My only issue is poor set-pieces. They need a proper set-piece coach.

Charlie: The first-half display from City was the best I’ve seen in 18 months.

Harry: There’s nothing left to say about Erling Haaland that hasn’t already been said. He makes me incredibly proud to support Man City, and we must cherish every moment he gives us. Cherki is an absolute steal and so unselfish — he’s going to be a huge asset. Aside from the corner, Gianluigi Donnarumma was rock-solid in goal. Plenty of positives, but full credit to Bournemouth — they were fearless at the Etihad and could have scored more in the first half. Bring on Liverpool.

Bournemouth Fans

Peter: I expected Veljko Milosavljevic to start against Haaland, as Bafode Diakite has already struggled against big forwards like Jean-Philippe Mateta. Great to see Tyler Adams finally get on the scoresheet, but we’ll play better against Aston Villa next week. With players returning and the drive to bounce back from a slightly disappointing showing against City, it shows how far this team has come.

M: It was okay. Some players were off form. We looked exposed defensively and created little in attack. Antoine Semenyo had flashes but was mostly quiet. We need to be more aggressive going forward against sides like City.

Bob: Poor defensive tactics — why was Haaland given so much space?

Tim: Bournemouth’s high line let Haaland in twice, and an injured Alex Jimenez was out of position for the third. Still, there’s so much to admire about this Bournemouth side. Upwards and onwards.
