Chelsea Willing to Fast-Track Major Transfer Before January Deadline

Chelsea are prepared to advance a significant signing originally targeted for the summer window, with options including a centre-back, central midfielder or attacker still under consideration ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline. The club remains open to action if the right opportunity arises.

Jacquet Heads to Liverpool, Leaving Chelsea Without Big Incoming

The primary target was Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, but the 20-year-old Frenchman is now close to completing a £60m move to Liverpool for next season. This leaves Chelsea without any confirmed major incomings at this point despite their readiness to strengthen if suitable players become available. Instead, young defender Aaron Anselmino will join Strasbourg on loan, allowing Mamadou Sarr to return to Chelsea and link up with new head coach Liam Rosenior, who arrived from the French side in early January.

Interest in Midfield and Attack, Multiple Outgoings Planned

Chelsea have shown recent interest in central midfielders like Douglas Luiz, currently on loan at Aston Villa, indicating that area remains a priority. They also inquired about Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo’s availability back in December. On the outgoing side, several players are expected to depart: Axel Disasi, Tyrique George and David Datro Fofana could move on loan or permanently. Tyrique George is nearing a loan to Everton for the rest of the season, while Raheem Sterling was already released from his contract last week. Academy talents such as Jimi Tauriainen, Sam Rak Sakyi and Ato Ampah may also leave in the coming days.
