Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah will be unavailable for a week to 10 days, according to head coach Enzo Maresca. This means the 25-year-old will miss Tuesday’s crucial match against Southampton, currently at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Injury Status and Expected Return
Maresca confirmed that Chalobah suffered an injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, just eight minutes into the match. The manager stated that while the injury isn’t serious, it’s still unfortunate considering the number of injuries affecting the squad.
Chalobah is expected to recover in time to feature in Chelsea’s upcoming game against Manchester City on March 9.
Chalobah’s Return from Loan
The central defender had been recalled from his season-long loan at Crystal Palace earlier in the season due to Chelsea’s defensive injury crisis. Despite being out of favor under Maresca, Chalobah has been working hard to regain his position as a key player for the Blues.
Jorgensen Still Chelsea’s Number One Keeper
Despite a costly error in the Villa match, Maresca reiterated that Filip Jorgensen remains Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper. The manager expressed confidence in his abilities moving forward.
