Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed hope that wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will be back from injury by April 1, when they face Fulham at home. Their absence has been felt as the team has struggled in recent matches, with their attack failing to make an impact in their 1-0 loss to West Ham and a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
Injuries to Key Players Impacting Arsenal’s Attack
Both Saka and Martinelli are recovering from hamstring injuries, while forwards Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are confirmed to be out for the rest of the season. The absence of these key players has left Arsenal with a makeshift attack that has failed to deliver in crucial matches.
Arteta acknowledged the difficulties but remains hopeful that Saka and Martinelli will be ready for action following the international break. He noted that even if they return, their fitness will need to be carefully monitored. “They are evolving well but they’re still a bit far,” Arteta said.
Arteta’s Focus Shifts to Champions League Clash
While the Premier League title race is looking increasingly difficult with Arsenal 13 points behind leaders Liverpool, Arteta now has his sights set on Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven. He is looking for a solution to his team’s current goal-scoring struggles as they prepare for a crucial clash in Europe.
“After that, we have another day or two to think before the PSV game, all the options that we have especially against a team that is in a low block,” Arteta added.
