Coping with the Diagnosis
Boothroyd, who also managed Watford and Coventry, spent five years leading the England Under-21s before stepping down in 2021. He shared that accepting his diagnosis was tough, but his passion for coaching remains strong. Staying physically fit is crucial in managing Parkinson’s, and he’s committed to this.

In a video, Boothroyd discussed the psychological challenges of the condition, noting that exercise has been vital. He emphasized that he doesn’t want pity and is determined to continue his career, staying fit and seeking a purpose-driven job. After leaving the England role, Boothroyd briefly joined the Northern Ireland coaching staff in 2022.
